Following our screening of Ingrid Goes West, the dark social media comedy starring Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen, Dr. Aisha Durham, Associate Professor of Communication at USF, and Andrejka XXX of Snap This, explore how we build multiple social identities across different media platforms. In this discussion, we will consider how our current visual culture leads us to remaster our social media image, creating an aspirational self that must constantly be fed. $5 admission after 5 pm, plus $5 movie ticket. Free for members.

Please join us for a day trip to Aripeka, where we will visit the beautiful waterfront home studio of painter Leslie Neumann, whose works are influenced by the surrounding landscape. Food and beverages will be served; carpooling is suggested! The drive is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Neumann received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the California College of Arts in Oakland, California, and a Master’s Degree in painting from New York University in Manhattan. After living in New York City for 14 years and teaching art at St. John’s University in Queens for 6 of those years, she moved in 1991 to the small fishing village of Aripeka on the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. An active environmentalist, Neumann and other members of her community have been successful in helping to preserve more than 14,000 acres of pristine coastal lands.

Neumann is a recipient of a Fellowship from the New York State Foundation for the Arts, an Individual Artist Fellowship from the State of Florida, and an Artist Enhancement Grant from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, and a Gottlieb Foundation Emergency Grant for Painting. In 2005, Neumann was honored with a 15-year retrospective of her work at the Vero Beach Art Museum, and currently has an exhibition at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg.
